ABOUT ME

I am a certified yoga and Pilates instructor, a meditator and a lover of movement and the gifts that it has given me throughout my life.

Growing up, I took various lessons, played some sports in high school, signed up for endless gym memberships that I hardly used and the outcome would always be the same: “I quit”. The perfectionist in me would criticize everything that I did resulting in holding myself back from growth. This trickled into my self-esteem and feeling unhappy about myself. The passion and drive that I so yearned for was really a lack of feeling connected, until I began the practice of yoga.

The philosophy of yoga was something very familiar to me as I grew up in a household where meditation, energy talk and emotional wellness were encouraged. These were the foundations for my own spiritual journey, but I was missing a physical connection. The discovery of the practice of Vinyasa Flow felt like a dance that nourished me, body and soul. A friend of mine opened up a new studio and as one of the first regulars in a small class size, I received a lot of attention and guidance in learning the practice. I would hike through the snow for 7am classes before working my 9-5. I was dedicated. I had finally found something that I didn’t want to quit. I felt empowered. I was starting to accept myself more and more. My perfectionist side always had something to comment on, but my teacher was encouraging and my love for the movement and how it made me feel far outweighed it. As my practice evolved, I decided to deepen it by completing my yoga teacher training (YTT).

In my career, I was always searching for something to satisfy a deeper calling and purpose. In going through my YTT, I realized how hard teaching was and how scared I was to do it. All the old and familiar feelings of unworthiness, rejection and fear of judgement were right at the forefront. This was my opportunity to either let it take over or to grow and work with it. This time I decided to grow. I left my 9-5 and started a career of teaching. I sought to learn more about anatomy and continued on to take numerous Pilates teacher trainings. I worked on myself every day and still do. I learnt how much I love teaching, connecting with people and guiding others into a practice of self-acceptance just as yoga had done for me not long ago and still to this day.

Wherever you are on your movement journey, I am here to support and encourage you. I look forward to working with you!
